BP to start up North Sea Quad 204 in May
OREANDA-NEWS. BP will soon complete its Quad 204 redevelopment project and expects production to start ramping up at the site later this month, helping to underpin its declining European crude production.
The Quad 204 project has involved redevelopment of the west of Shetlands Schiehallion and Loyal fields, and has included the installation of a new floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel, the Glen Lyon, at the site.
BP expects the FPSO - which has a storage capacity of 800,000 bl, and from which crude produced at the site will be loaded - to output 130,000 b/d of oil at its peak. The firm expects the Quad 204 project to extend production at the asset beyond 2035.
Crude production at Schiehallion averaged 42,800 b/d in 2012, prior to its temporary closure at the start of 2013 to allow redevelopment works to begin.
BP's production in Europe averaged 160,000 b/d of oil equivalent (boe/d) in the first quarter of the year, down by 10pc from 178,000 boe/d across the same three months a year earlier, and down from 168,000 boe/d in the last three months of 2016.
