OREANDA-NEWS. The social network Twitter announced the improvement of the security system to additionally protect the accounts of American politicians.

New systems will be introduced for users who are members of the executive and legislative branches of government in the United States, governors and secretaries of state of the USA, presidential candidate headquarters, parties and candidates for seats in the House of Representatives and Senate, the company explained.

Accounts of American media and political journalists will also receive additional protection. All of them will have to use complex passwords that are difficult to guess. By default, such accounts will have a password change protection system. Users are strongly recommended to set up two-factor authentication.

The company enters new rules due to the July hack, when criminals successfully carried out the largest attack on Twitter. From the accounts of billionaires, politicians, representatives of the crypto industry and celebrities, a post was published about the free distribution of bitcoins. In two hours, hackers managed to collect 12.86 bitcoins (about 140 thousand US dollars).
