The Share of Smartphones from Europe and the U.S. among Russians' Purchases Shrank to 12% in Three Months

OREANDA-NEWS The share of American and European phones in the total volume of gadgets purchased this spring has more than halved to 12%, TASS reported, citing a Russian Standard Bank study.
The publication pointed out that Russians started buying smartphones from China and Korea the most. Between March and May 2022, their share rose to 88% from 73% a year earlier. Although in 2021 their share was also at the top of the total number of smartphone purchases.
According to Russian Standard, the most smartphone purchases this year were in April. The average bill for this month was 32.66 thousand rubles. In March, it was Br22.81 thousand, while in May - about Br12.99 thousand.
Earlier, sellers of household appliances and electronics reported a reduction in the range after a number of foreign manufacturers announced the cessation of operations in Russia and difficulties in the supply of components.
