OREANDA-NEWS. The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomandzor) published on its website a list of information resources which repeatedly disseminated false information.

As the press service of the agency explained, this is an open list of Internet pages on which deliberately inaccurate socially significant information is regularly spread under the guise of reliable reports.

“The list includes information sources that are mentioned two or more times in executive documents of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent to Roskomnadzor in order to comply with the provisions of Article 15.3 of the Federal Law No. 149 “On Information…” (as it relates to the dissemination of unreliable socially significant information)”, the message says.

In total, the list includes 27 resources, 20 of which relate to communities on the VKontakte social network (the most popular website in Russia), 2 – to the My World platform, 2 – to websites, 2 – to YouTube, and 1 Facebook account.

All these sites at different times posted news recognized by the Prosecutor General’s Office to be fake, for example reports of an emergency on the territory of the state research institute, mass riots in Penza Region, the situation in the flooded city in the Irkutsk Region, the fire at the ammunition depot, the destruction of the transport passage through the Kerch Strait and “the revolution in the Russian Federation on August 31, 2019.” The text designated as a quote from the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights is also recognized to be false information.

The list is to be updated once a week. According to Roskomnadzor, it is intended to become an instrument for media which would be able to determine the sources of inaccurate information on the Internet.
