OREANDA-NEWS. The use of 5G communication networks is planned through the creation of joint ventures (JV) by operators. This was announced on Wednesday by the director of the department of state policy in the field of communications of the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation Andrei Kantsurov.

Konturov also clarified that at the first stage of this work, the operators will agree on what form, tasks and functions everyone will have. He added that at present, the concept of developing 5G networks, which, in particular, includes this issue, is under consideration in the government of the Russian Federation. The scientific and technical conference Rosinfocom-2019 is being held on Wednesday in St. Petersburg. It's dedicated to the modernization of the information infrastructure for 5G networks and other promising technologies for the digital transformation of the regions.

The development of a new generation of communication networks is part of the activities of the federal project "Information Infrastructure" of the national project "Digital Economy". The federal project provides for the creation of a 5G pilot zone by the end of 2019. At the same time, by the end of 2021, it's necessary to begin implementing 5G in the territory of at least 10 million-plus cities.
