OREANDA-NEWS. The government is going to develop an information system that will be a single circuit to analyze video from all city cameras from the whole territory Russia. Kommersant writes about it, citing sources.

A source from the National Video Surveillance Platform project informed that it is decided to install not ordinary cameras, but "smart" ones fitted with computing devices. With the help of such devices, the camera will be able to recognize and record various incidents on its own, for example, crimes can be recorded in such way, and only then cameras will transfer the recorded footage to the data processing center.

National Technologies LLC is designed as a joint project: Rostec structures will develop its the hardware part, and Rostelecom will design software, according to the newspaper.

The idea of ​​creating such a video system was spoken about at a meeting of the special commission in May, which was confirmed by the General Designer of the Safe City system Oksana Yakimyuk.

City video surveillance systems now is sending video to data centers by means of a continuous stream method. A Kommersant source called this technology "dead-end", since it needs a large number data centers.

Experts doubt that a total move to a new system will be economically justified, because a "smart" camera is much more expensive than a conventional one. Experts also speak about the risks in the sphere of information safety in the case of the implementation of a unified video surveillance system.

Nikolai Komlev, executive director of the Association of Computer and Information Technology Enterprises, explained that "in the event of a data leak, be it hacking or corruption," criminals can get access to "very sensitive information." According to him, the attacker "will be able not only to track your movement around the city, but in the long term to analyze your actions literally step by step."
