Poland Blames Russia for the Migration Crisis on the Borders with Belarus
OREANDA-NEWS. The migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border is man-made and managed from Russia. These accusations were made by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press briefing, which is broadcast on the politician's Facebook page.
According to him, Warsaw has a lot of aerial video surveillance recordings showing the transport of refugees by Belarusian security forces. “It can be seen that illegal immigrants are deliberately brought to the border for further transfer to the territory of Poland,” said Morawiecki.
He stressed that the country's leadership has long been aware of the intentions of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to provoke instability near the Polish borders. However, as the head of the Cabinet assured, Minsk could not act on this issue without outside help. “We know that this action is being run from Moscow,” the prime minister said.
On the morning of September 20, Polish border guards found the bodies of three migrants in a forest belt near the border with Belarus. One woman was among the dead. Later, Mateusz said that exhaustion and hypothermia were the cause of their death. He promised to send about 500 soldiers and new equipment to help the border guards, and also confirmed suspicions of Minsk's involvement in the influx of illegal immigrants.
“I am worried about the fact that Belarus, in order to increase pressure on the external border of the European Union, introduced a visa-free regime with several countries with great potential for illegal immigration,” the politician said.
