Foreign Social Networks Can Impose a Tax on Russian Bloggers

OREANDA-NEWS Foreign platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok may be required to pay "tax for Russian bloggers on blog advertising revenue". This information is reported by the Russian edition "Vedomosti". Such a proposal was outlined by the Ministry of Digital Science in terms of the development of the information technology industry in Russia.
For this, it is proposed to adopt a federal law. Its project is planned to be prepared by the middle of this year. The executors were appointed by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and the Federal Tax Service. The departments did not respond to a request to comment on the initiative.
According to the research company BloggerBase, video bloggers in Russia in 2020 earned about 18 billion rubles. Amid the pandemic, the demand for bloggers' content has grown. Bloggers, as a rule, receive money for advertising to their personal account.
Last year, the rating of Russian YouTube bloggers with the most expensive advertising was headed by TNT stand-up Nurlan Saburov and his partners on the Labelcom channel, the most popular show of which is “What happened next?”. They earned more than 3.5 million dollars in a year. TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak retained the title of the richest Instagram blogger. Advertising in the account brought her about 1.5 million dollars in a year.
