FedEx Corporation announced that T. Michael Glenn will retire effective December 31, 2016
OREANDA-NEWS. FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) today announced that T. Michael Glenn, executive vice president, market development and corporate communications, will retire effective December 31, 2016. Glenn, 61, has led the company’s marketing, sales, customer service and communications groups for over twenty years. Robert B. Carter, currently Chief Information Officer and Co-CEO of FedEx Services with Glenn, will become the CEO of FedEx Services effective January 1, 2017 and will oversee the administration of common information technology, sales, solutions, marketing and corporate communications for our operating companies.
In addition, David J. Bronczek, CEO of FedEx Express, will become President and Chief Operating Officer of FedEx Corporation in fifteen months on January 1, 2018. Beginning January 1, 2017, Bronczek will become the Chairman of the Revenue Management Committee replacing Glenn.
“Mike Glenn is a thirty-five year veteran of FedEx, and without a doubt the most brilliant marketer I have ever met. His passionate leadership, strategic vision and intellect have transformed the FedEx portfolio and brand and immeasurably improved global commerce,” said Frederick W. Smith, FedEx Corp. chairman, president and chief executive officer. “While this is a tremendous loss for FedEx, I commend and admire Mike for this decision as he transitions his focus full time to his family. Mike and his wife, Donna have for many years dealt with the significant challenge of raising a special needs child, and it is a measure of the man that Mike has decided he must devote even more time to her well-being and care. It would be impossible to list Mike’s many accomplishments, but I can tell you that our company, brand, and portfolio would not be anything close to what it is today without Mike Glenn.”
Glenn joined FedEx Express in 1981 as a senior sales specialist. He became Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications of FedEx Express in 1993, and assumed responsibilities for customer service the next year. He has been Executive Vice President, Market Development and Corporate Communications of FedEx Corp. since its formation in 1998. He also has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of FedEx Services since 2000.
Given the increased breadth of FedEx global operations, Rajesh Subramaniam, executive vice president of marketing and corporate communications, and Donald Colleran, executive vice president of sales, both at FedEx Services, will become members of the Strategic Management Committee on January 1, 2017.
After nine years of distinguished service to FedEx, Gary W. Loveman retired from the Board today. “Gary has been a valuable member of the FedEx Board of Directors, and we thank him for his contributions and unwavering focus on increasing shareholder value.” said Mr. Smith.
