OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has launched high-speed wireless Internet in the 4G standard in Irkutsk Region. Even at a launch stage, the 4G network is covering territories where half of the region’s residents live.
The 4G network has become available to residents of seven cities in Irkutsk Region including Irkutsk, Bratsk, Angarsk, Ust-Ilimsk, Usolye-Sibirskoye, Cheremkhovo and Bodaybo. The network is working in the 800 and 1800 MHz spectrum bands and is covering territories where over 54% of residents live.
The company’s technical department has set up a new equipment and upgraded existing facilities of the network infrastructure. The operator has installed up-to-date Nokia Networks units at more than 1000 base stations.
Tele2 is offering five bundle plans to users of high-speed wireless Internet in Irkutsk Region: “Black”, “Super Black”, “Ultra Black”, “Pitch Black” and “Black online”. Tariffs differ in volume of included Internet traffic, a number of minutes and SMS. All bundle tariffs are traditionally simple, do not contain any hidden conditions and allow Tele2 subscribers to use modern telecommunication services at affordable prices. The operator has envisaged different options for subscribers who want to use high-speed wireless Internet but are satisfied with their current tariff. They are the “Internet bag”, the “Internet briefcase” and the “Internet suitcase”.
Sergey Emdin, CEO at Tele2:
“Tele2 continues implementing a large-scale project on a launch of high-speed wireless Internet in Russian regions. Until recently, there was no mobile operator on the Russian telecom market that would have rolled out networks at an equal pace. We are actively investing into development of our infrastructure and today high-speed wireless Internet in 3G and 4G standards is available in 61 regions. We see the penetration of LTE devices growing − that is why Tele2 will continue rolling out 4G networks in large cities with a soaring demand on this service.”
