BATM Expands Client Base in Africa
The Group has implemented a 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GE) network to provide greater bandwidth to support more internet traffic and enhanced data centre interconnectivity to all of the universities and research institutions in Kenya. By upgrading to a 10GE network, KENET will be able to provide a greater range of services to its members. In addition, a key feature of the Telco solution is its management functions, combined with cost effectiveness, which reduces the operational input required by the customer.
Dr. Zvi Marom, CEO of BATM, said: "We are pleased to have delivered this project in Kenya, which will improve the IT infrastructure of universities throughout the country. There is a clear trend to upgrading to 10GE to support growing traffic needs and deliver superior service, and we are confident that this project will be extended to provide connectivity to other education institutions in Kenya, such as primary and secondary schools. Building on our existing work in Kenya and Ethiopia, we expect to continue to see increasing demand and build our client base in this region."
KENET is a not-for-profit membership organisation that is licensed by the Communications Commission of Kenya as an Alternative Network Facility Provider and is the designated National Research and Education Network (NREN), providing broadband internet services and community shared/cloud services to the higher education and research community in partnership with other licensed telecommunications operators. It also conducts ICT-in-education research.
