YouTube will let you live-stream from your phone
OREANDA-NEWS. June 27, 2016. YouTube is about to push live streaming from the web to your mobile device.
The video-sharing site will soon offer support for live streaming on its YouTube app, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki said Thursday at the VidCon conference in Anaheim, California.
The Google-owned company also promises that live streaming will have all the regular features as regular videos, including search, recommendations and playlists.
"YouTube mobile live streaming will be baked right into the core YouTube mobile app," Kurt Wilms, product lead of immersive experiences at YouTube, wrote in a company blog post announcing the development. "You won't need to open anything else, just hit the big red capture button right there in the corner, take or select a photo to use as a thumbnail, and you can broadcast live to your fans and chat in near real time."
YouTube has been offering live streaming since 2011, when it allowed millions of people to watch the royal wedding of Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton. In April, the company took the leap into live streaming of 360-degree videos by presenting a few performances from the Coachella music festival in Indio, California.
