Tele2 now provides 4G Internet in over 30 regions
OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has commissioned the LTE network in the Udmurtia Republic and Vologda Region. High-speed wireless Internet in 4G standard is now available to residents of 31 regions.
Tele2 started providing wireless Internet in 4G standard in Izhevsk, Votkinsk, Sarapul and Glazov. The LTE network covers the territory where over 58% residents live. In Vologda Region the operator started providing the service in Vologda and Cherepovets. Over 54% of residents live in the area of LTE stable coverage.
In Vologda Region and Udmurtia the network is working in the 800 MHz spectrum band. At the same time, Tele2 is the only operator providing services in this spectrum in the Udmurtia Republic. Another stage of the LTE development in Udmurtia is a launch of 4G base stations at 1800 MHz in the third quarter of 2017. This will allow the company to provide 70% of the republic’s population with access to the 4G technology.
In 2017, Tele2 has doubled the number of forecast LTE rollouts: the operator will launch high-speed wireless Internet in 4G in 25 regions. The company has been rolling out networks based on a new principle – gradual launch of testing areas. This approach has eased loads on operating 3G networks in places where Tele2 had fixed higher demand on wireless Internet. A step-by-step launch of 4G base stations also allows the company to provide residents with high-speed Internet in less time.
Tele2 now provides high-speed wireless Internet in 61 Russian regions. High-speed wireless Internet in the 4G standard is already available to Tele2 subscribers in 31 constituent territories of the Russian Federation: Moscow and Moscow Region, St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region, in Belgorod, Chelyabinsk, Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Kursk, Lipetsk, Novosibirsk, Nizhniy Novgorod, Omsk, Orel, Rostov, Sverdlovsk, Tambov, Tula, Ulyanovsk, Vologda and Voronezh regions, the Chuvash and Udmurtia republics, republics of Komi, Mordovia, Khakasia and Karelia, the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Adygea, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area.
