OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow's Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called the end of the "most acute period" of the coronavirus pandemic. In his opinion, the peak of the pandemic will end in a few months. At the same time, the mayor said that the fight against COVID-19 will still continue for a long time.

The mayor of Moscow also said that 13 thousand patients with infection are now in the capital's hospitals.

He noted that the most difficult decision for him was not the introduction of restrictions, but their removal. Sobyanin explained that in the spring, the authorities took measures to protect the population from coronavirus. “And when you remove the restrictions, you take responsibility that if mass diseases start tomorrow, you are now to blame,” he said.

Earlier, the mayor of the capital abandoned radical antiquated measures in Moscow. He noted that the authorities are rejecting the options adopted in many European countries. In this regard, the introduction of new restrictions, as Sobyanin said, is not planned.

According to the latest data, 6459 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in Moscow over the past 24 hours. The total number of infected people in the capital reached 728,637. In Russia, over the entire time, 2,819,429 patients with a positive test for COVID-19 were recorded.
