WHO Awaits Full Package of Documents on "Sputnik V"
OREANDA-NEWS. The World Health Organization will give its assessment of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine when it receives all the necessary documents from Russia, the WHO said.
“We are now at the stage when we are awaiting the submission of a complete package of documents from the relevant structures,” explained Oleg Benesh, senior specialist of the immunization department of the WHO European Office for Europe.
According to him, it is very important for WHO that all documents related to the quality, safety and efficacy of the drug are present. At the same time, Benes noted that the organization actively cooperates with representatives of Russia on the preparation of a complete package of documentation, reports TASS.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, said that the health ministers of the G20 countries called "Sputnik V" the best option for the prevention of COVID-19. The use of the Russian vaccine has already been approved in 70 countries of the world.
Speaking at the IV Forum of Social Innovations of the Regions, the head of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko said that the ministers of health of the G20 countries called the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine the best option for the prevention of covid.
According to Murashko, over the past decades, the Sputnik V vaccine has become the first breakthrough in medical science, when a Russian drug is known all over the world.
The head of the Ministry of Health expressed gratitude to the leadership of Moscow and doctors for their active participation in clinical trials of the vaccine, TASS reports.
Colossal amount of data in a short period of time in order to prove the safety and efficacy of a vaccine is expensive, Murashko stressed, adding that our country was the first in the world.
Earlier, following the session of the G20 health ministers, Mikhail Murashko said that the G20 countries need to mutually recognize vaccination against coronavirus with drugs approved in these states.
