OREANDA-NEWS. Volkswagen will dismiss up to 5,000 Employees in Germany. According to the «Handelsblatt» newspaper, the company's restructuring costs may amount to 500 million euros.

Volkswagen confirmed, that an agreement has been reached with the company's board of employees, which involves the early or partial retirement of some employees. The concern expects, that 900 employees will choose early retirement, writes the Russian agency «Interfax».

At the same time, Volkswagen did not specify how many employees can partially retire, but the number will be a four-digit. The company's head of human resources, Gunnar Kilian, said Volkswagen needed to adhere to «strict cost management to fund the necessary investments in the future»

«With our significant investment in expanding electric vehicle production and digitalization, Volkswagen has been able to pioneer transformation in the automotive industry», he said.

Earlier, Volkswagen presented teasers of the sports version of the «Transporter» van. Images of the vehicle were distributed by the company's press service. The new van stands out with 18-inch black wheels, red accents on the body, as well as sports suspension and a reduced ground clearance of 30 mm.
