Turkish Authorities Negotiate with Ukraine on Land Lease for Agricultural Production

OREANDA-NEWS Turkey is negotiating with 10 countries, including Ukraine, to lease land for agricultural production. According to the newspaper Türkiye, Gazeta.ru reports.
These plots are planned to grow crops that are impossible to produce in Turkey for climatic or other reasons. The newspaper quotes the Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci as saying that the plan is to export modern products. According to Hurriyet newspaper, in addition to Ukraine, the Turkish authorities are negotiating on this issue with the countries of Latin America and Africa.
The Turkish side expects to grow abroad sunflowers, corn, cotton, sugar cane, clover, canola, pineapple, mango and avocado. Most of the products will be intended for export and the projects will be implemented by the private sector.
According to the newspaper, the issue was discussed during a visit to Turkey by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. The Latin American country has offered to lease 400,000 hectares of farmland.
