OREANDA-NEWS. Toyota’s total investment in the development of a car plant in St. Petersburg since its founding in 2007 amounted to 30 billion rubles, the company’s press service told the Russian media on Wednesday. “Toyota’s total investment in the development of the enterprise in St. Petersburg from the date of its foundation in 2007 amounted to 30 billion rubles”, said the official representative of the concern.

On Wednesday, the automaker began mass production of a new fifth-generation Toyota RAV4 crossover. The company's total investment in the modernization of production for the new project amounted to 4.8 billion rubles.

Toyota Motor Plant in St. Petersburg was opened in 2007, currently the company produces Toyota Camry sedan and Toyota RAV4 crossover. Since November 2011, the plant has been operating in two shifts. The production capacity of the plant is 100 thousand cars per year. Cars are delivered to the Russian market, as well as exported to the markets of Kazakhstan and Belarus.
