OREANDA-NEWS Yakutia Airlines has disassembled two of the four Russian Superjet 100 aircraft leased from the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) for spare parts. This became known as a result of an extraordinary inspection of the condition of aircraft that took place recently, Vedomosti writes.
As explained by sources in the STLC and another interlocutor familiar with the results of the inspection, disassembled aircraft are not subject to restoration. They lack marching power plants and a number of other key units.
They have been in this state for more than a year. After the inspection, the STLC turned to the manufacturer of the SSJ 100, the Irkut enterprise (part of the United Aircraft Corporation), to consult on the repair issue.
The company replied that due to the sanctions imposed by Western countries after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, there is nowhere to take the missing details. The Russian-French company PowerJet has not produced or serviced the SaM146 engines for the SSJ100 since March, and the Russian powerplant is designed for another modification of the Superjet New liner. In addition, neither this model of the aircraft nor the engine itself has yet been certified.
The interlocutor of the publication noted that the appeal of Yakutia with the SSJ 100 had raised questions before. So, in 2020, one of the ships needed to replace the glass in the cockpit. Such a malfunction requires contacting the manufacturer, but the airline tried to repair the board itself. As a result, the board was flooded with rain. In addition, the inspection found out that there are a lot of non-certified fasteners in the cabin.
