OREANDA-NEWS  Beer production in Russia increased by more than 10 percent in 2024, and the country's production of cider, poire and mead increased most sharply, adding 43.8 percent. RBC Wine writes about this with reference to data from Rosalokoltabakcontrol (RATK).

The production of beer drinks in Russia also showed a significant increase (by 22.5 percent). The RATK explains these dynamics by introducing a registry of brewers and whitewashing this segment of the alcohol market. At the same time, experts who spoke with journalists explained that we are talking about a redistribution of categories — due to the increase in the excise rate, manufacturers who previously labeled their products as "fruit alcoholic" and "low-alcohol" have now transferred them to the categories of cider and beer products, respectively.

In the first eight months of last year, it was reported that the production of low-alcohol beverages in Russia decreased by almost a third (32.1 percent), to 8.95 million decaliters. At the same time, the total production of alcohol-containing and alcoholic products (except beer, cider, poiret and mead) grew by 8.5 percent.

According to the results of the entire 2024 year, alcohol production in the Russian Federation nevertheless decreased by 1.8 percent. The decrease in the indicator excluding beer, beer drinks, cider, poiret and mead was recorded for the third year in a row. In general, the total production level of these categories of beverages in Russia, amounting to 922.6 million decaliters, was almost five times higher than the volume of production of other alcohol — 188.1 million decaliters.
