OREANDA-NEWS   The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleg Voloshyn, believes that there is "the only real way" to stop the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline : a "colossal rupture" between the United States and Germany. 

“That is, the United States just needs to squabble with the Germans, impose sanctions against German companies, moreover, sanctions of an extraterritorial nature”, - Voloshyn said.

At the same time, the deputy admitted that in this case, Washington's actions would have long-term consequences for international relations.

"It is pure piracy to intervene in things that the United States does not directly concern", - he said.

On the air of Sputnik radio, the political scientist, director of the Institute of Contemporary State Development Dmitry Solonnikov commented on this statement.

"The Ukrainian deputy speaks not from the point of view of geopolitics but from the point of view of the feeling of what is happening from Kiev. Many Ukrainian politicians believe that the world revolves around them, they are the navel of the Earth around which all major events take place. Therefore, they figure out how to stop Nord Stream -2 " which for some reason they suddenly considered the main problem for the whole world," said Dmitry Solonnikov. 

In his opinion, the scenario proposed by the Ukrainian deputy is absolutely unrealistic. 

“This is such a fantastic scenario, which, in general, objectively shows the current situation: no one will stop the project - Germany and the US will not break off relations, no one needs Ukraine. The largest economy in Europe and the largest economy in the world will not swear over Ukraine. Ukraine will have to live in a world of objective reality, where Nord Stream 2 operates, where the US has not quarreled with Germany, and Ukraine is far from being the center of world decision-making", - the political scientist concluded.
