OREANDA-NEWS  The Ministry of Industry and Trade is working on a plan to support the Russian metallurgical industry, which showed a decrease in production in the second half of last year, Deputy Minister Mikhail Yurin told reporters in Novosibirsk on Tuesday.

An expanded meeting of the Coordinating Council of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs branches in the Siberian Federal District is taking place in Novosibirsk.

"We held several major meetings at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, chaired by Industry Minister Anton Alikhanov, where we discussed the current situation and possible support measures. Now it is being worked out at the site of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, all the recommendations that we are collecting together with the industry. I think that a maintenance action plan will be implemented," he said.

Yurin stated that the Russian metallurgical industry has reduced production volumes in the second half of 2024. "This is directly related to the results that are available in the construction complex. Construction is slowly starting to slow down, and the metallurgical industry is following," he explained.

Speaking about the Russian chemical industry, the deputy minister noted the record production of mineral fertilizers – 63 million tons were produced last year.

"At the same time, there are sub-sectors that have recorded their production volumes, such as tires, varnishes and paints, where growth is insignificant. But there are also plastic products that are also growing at a very high rate," he concluded.
