The European Commission Commented on Germany's Intention to Purchase Sputnik V
OREANDA-NEWS. The European Commission is not going to refuse from the general strategy on vaccines against COVID-19 for the European Union after Germany informed about its intention to independently acquire Sputnik V. This was said at a briefing in Brussels by the EC official representative Eric Mamer.
The head of the German Ministry of Health, Jens Spahn, said earlier that Germany would bilaterally talk with Russia about the Sputnik V vaccine. At the same time, he noted that it is necessary to find out when and in what volume the medicine can be delivered.
Mamer said: “I want to remind you that we have a European vaccine strategy, it involves negotiations with a number of companies that are well-known. The fact that states decide to buy vaccines from other suppliers, as it was already, for example, in Hungary, does not mean the end of the European strategy. These are two different things. "
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Health of Bavaria signed a memorandum of intent with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) on possible supplies to the region of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine.
Earlier on April 8, it was reported that the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, following Bavaria, informed about its intention to seal the deal on the supply of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V. It was reported on the NDR television and radio company with reference to the Minister of Health of the state, Harry Glave.
