OREANDA-NEWS The European Union has imposed sanctions against PJSC ALROSA and its CEO Pavel Marinychev, the Council of the European Union said in a statement.
The report emphasizes that these restrictions complement the previously imposed ban on the import of diamonds from the Russian Federation as part of the 12th package of anti-Russian sanctions.
As reported, the outright ban will affect non-industrial natural and synthetic diamonds, as well as diamond jewelry starting from January 1, 2024. An indirect ban on diamonds processed in third countries, including jewelry with diamonds from the Russian Federation, will be introduced in stages from March 1 and will be completed by September 1, 2024.
In July, Marinychev was included in the US sanctions list, ALROSA has been on it since April 2022.
