The magazine Valeurs Actuelles reports that the decision of the Russian government to reduce grain exports from 43.3 million to 7 million tons caused concern in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). International organizations believe that restrictions can break the entire food supply chain in the world.

The introduction of quotas is connected with the fear of the Russian authorities concerning providing the country’s citizens with food during the coronavirus epidemic. Quotas were introduced for the export of wheat, rye, corn and barley, they will be valid until the end of June. Authorities point out that export restrictions have been introduced to preserve supplies and avoid rising prices in the domestic market.
