OREANDA-NEWS  It will be possible to switch to the production of satellites consisting entirely of Russian components in about five years, suggested Nikolai Sevastyanov, adviser to the General director of Roscosmos.

"Within five years, we can completely switch to domestic developments, to domestic production," Sevastyanov said on Thursday at a conference in Moscow. He clarified that for full import substitution in satellite construction, it is necessary to solve three tasks: financial, technical and organizational. Work on the creation of domestic onboard systems is already underway and will take a couple of years, and the construction of satellites itself will take about three more years, Sevastyanov added.

But for this, according to him, the work must be properly organized, such developments cannot be trusted to multidisciplinary organizations, where they are forgotten over time.

According to Yuri Vilkov, Deputy General director of ISS Reshetnev, one of the largest satellite-building enterprises in Russia, all preparatory work for such a transition has already been carried out at their plant, and the first fully domestic satellite will appear in 2024-2025.
