OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Ministry of Health has updated recommendations for the treatment and prevention of coronavirus.

Hydroxychloroquine was removed from the list of drugs that can be prescribed to patients. Instead, new vaccines against covid were included in the list - these are "CoviVac", developed by the Chumakov Center, and Sputnik Light, the Gamaleya Center.

The drug "Sputnik Light" forms immunity to infection after a single injection, but the protection will not be as powerful and long-lasting as when vaccinated with the usual "Sputnik V", reports the TV channel "Russia 24".

The Sputnik Light vaccine will be produced by eight Russian plants. According to the Ministry of Health, the drug can be used, among other things, to vaccinate those who have already been ill, but have a low level of antibodies to covid. "If the Light option, which is the first component of the Sputnik V vaccine," is used separately without a second vaccination, then this makes it possible to reduce the disease with this infection by 50 percent, or even 60 percent, "says the director of the Gamaleya Center, academician RAS Alexander Gintsburg.

In addition, the department recommends human immunoglobulin for use in hospitalized patients. "To prevent inflammation in adults, it is possible to use a glucocorticosteroid in the form of a metered-dose powder for inhalation," the Ministry of Health said.
