OREANDA-NEWS The Polish oil and gas concern PGNiG wants to take part in the certification procedure of the operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the Polish company said in a statement.
"PGNiG and PGNiG Supply & Trading have applied for inclusion in the certification procedure for the operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Whether the owner of the gas pipeline will receive a privileged position in the European gas market depends on the outcome of the proceedings".
It is clarified that PGNiG and its subsidiary PGNiG Supply & Trading have sent a request to the German regulatory body for the participation of the owner of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in considering the certification of Nord Stream 2 AG.
“Nord Stream 2 AG does not want to comply with the general principles of the III Energy Package which aim to ensure competition and a level playing field for all market participants. In particular, the owner of Nord Stream 2 wants to avoid the application of laws on the distribution of property, tariffs that take into account the cost of the entire gas pipeline. An important circumstance is also the negative impact of the NS2 gas pipeline on the energy security of the European Union and individual member states. These arguments should sound, so PGNiG decided to join the certification procedure", - said Pavel Maevsky, Chairman of the Board of PGNiG.
