OREANDA-NEWS Tatarstan remains the leader in the Russian Federation in milk production, milk yields exceed two million tons for the second year in a row, the head of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov said.

On Thursday, Minnikhanov took part in a solemn event dedicated to the Day of the Worker of Agriculture and Processing Industry, and congratulated the agrarians of the republic.

"Our livestock breeders, the country's leaders in milk production, are working successfully. For the second year in a row, milk yield will exceed two million tons," Minnikhanov said, congratulating agricultural workers.

According to the head of Tatarstan, a decent grain harvest was harvested this year – 3.5 million tons, the gross harvest of sugar beet is expected to reach 1.5 million tons, 790 thousand tons of potatoes, 250 thousand tons of vegetables were harvested. A sufficient amount of fodder has been harvested for productive wintering of livestock. About 530 thousand tons of meat will also be produced.

"Thanks to your selfless work, there is always fresh bread, milk, meat and vegetables on the tables of our citizens... We are grateful to you for your contribution to the development of agriculture and the republic," said Minnikhanov.
In general, he stressed that the agro-industrial complex of the republic is actively developing, thanking the President and the government of the country for the systematic support of the industry. According to the head of Tatarstan, construction and modernization of livestock facilities, grain flows, elevators are continuing in the republic. Over the past four years alone, the volume of investments has exceeded 150 billion rubles.

"In the current conditions, we must fully provide our citizens with basic foodstuffs. This is a matter of food security," Minnikhanov said.
