OREANDA-NEWS  In the first half of 2024, milk production in Russia increased by 3 percent year-on-year. Kommersant writes about this with reference to a study by the National Union of Milk Producers (Soyuzmoloko).

In just seven months, 13.2 million tons of milk were processed. The output of dairy products also increased: in January-May, 23 percent more cream (145 thousand tons), 9 percent more cottage cheese and cottage cheese products (334.5 thousand tons), 14 percent more ice cream (260.3 thousand tons), and 13 percent more yogurt (330.6 thousand tons) were produced.

Artem Belov, CEO of Soyuzmolok, notes that last year companies in the industry were able to increase production against the background of lower prices for raw materials. Large volumes of dairy products helped to contain the rate of price growth in the category below the average food inflation (4.23 percent versus 7.42 percent).
