OREANDA-NEWS. The Japanese Ministry of Health announced that the country had recorded the first case of anaphylaxis after vaccination with the American company Pfizer, but experts cannot yet confirm a direct link between the vaccine and the manifestation of an allergic reaction.

According to the department, a case of anaphylaxis was recorded in a woman aged 30 to 40 years. Within five minutes after injecting the drug, she developed a cough, swelling of the eyelids and itching all over her body. "After taking the medicines, the situation improved," the ministry said.

At the same time, the release emphasizes the need for a detailed study of this case. It is also possible that an allergic reaction could occur, since the woman suffers from asthma.

Earlier in February, the first round of vaccinations kicked off in Japan. Currently, the only vaccine approved in Japan is Pfizer, which was approved on February 14. As of March 5, about 37 thousand people received the first dose of the vaccine.

The first phase of vaccination in Japan covers 40 thousand medical workers. It takes place in 100 medical institutions across the country. The next round of vaccinations will reach 4.7 million health workers. Then, starting in April, 36 million older people over 65 will be vaccinated. It is expected that the mass vaccination will take place with the active participation of local administrations.
