OREANDA-NEWS  The first enterprises in Russia for the production of textiles from recycled materials appeared in the Ivanovo region. The fact that the country has learned how to make cotton from waste is reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

A full cycle of textile production from scraps of fabric, knitwear, rags and old clothes was organized in five enterprises united in the Green Thread eco-cluster. The factory produces 200 tons of yarn per month, and by October-November it should reach full capacity — 400 tons.

The raw materials for processing are provided by the sewing and knitting factories of the region. Unnecessary cotton items collected in special containers in shopping malls are also used. Clothes, bed linen and other products are divided into fibers, and then turned into yarn.

"When using secondary raw materials, it is possible to obtain products with a lower cost without losing the necessary operational properties," said Artem Potapenko, head of the Lidertex company, which initiated the creation of a new factory.

Earlier in Russia, it was proposed to create a system for the disposal of organic waste. Alexander Kogan, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, called this type of waste one of the most dangerous for the planet.
