OREANDA-NEWS  Manufacturers from Karelia presented curling stones of their own production at the forum "Russia is a sports power", which are planned to be launched into a series after testing samples. The head of the region Artur Parfenchikov told about the novelty of import substitution in his Telegram channel.

According to the head, previously such stones were produced only in Canada from Scottish granite, but now they began to be made from granite mined in the Pitkyarantsky district and processed in the local technopark "Southern Industrial Zone". Parfenchikov noted that the Curling Federation has already supported these initiatives and promised to start large-scale production.

The forum "Russia is a sports power" takes place in Perm from October 19 to 22. Speaking at it, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for involving 70 percent of Russians in systematic sports by 2030.

The Head of state also drew attention to the situation with the transitions of young hockey players from Russian to foreign clubs. "We need to understand what we should do with these hockey dealers who take kids from sports schools and drag them abroad," Putin said.
