Hyundai and KIA Motors Suspend Car Production in Czech Republic and Slovakia

OREANDA-NEWS. Since March 23, South Korean automobile companies Hyundai Motor and KIA Motors have suspended production at their assembly plants in the Czech Republic and Slovakia due to the spread of coronavirus. This was reported on Thursday by Czech television and Slovak television.
The production process is expected to resume in two weeks if the epidemiological situation in the Czech Republic and Slovakia does not worsen. Workers and employees of factories during a forced downtime will receive financial compensation in the amount of at least 70% of salaries.
Hyundai Motor plant is located near the village of Nosovice in the area of the city of Frydek-Mistek in the north-east of the Czech Republic. It employs 3300 workers and employees. KIA Motors is located on the administrative territory of the village of Teplichka nad Wagom near the town of Zilina in northwestern Slovakia. About four thousand employees provide the production process there.
In the Czech Republic, 572 infected with coronavirus have been detected so far, and 105 infected have been diagnosed in Slovakia.
