German Government Announced Unchanged Position on "Sputnik V"
OREANDA-NEWS. The position of the German government on the possible use of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine remains unchanged, for this registration with the European Medicines Agency is required. This position was recalled by the official representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Germany Steffen Seibert.
Seibert, answering the question whether Germany, following the example of Austria, can start negotiations on "Sputnik V" before the registration of the vaccine, said: "Our position is unchanged: so that the vaccine can be used in Germany, as was the case with the previous ones (registered in the EU) vaccines, it must be recommended by the European Medicines Agency. The Russian vaccine must also go through this process if the goal is to use it here. "
In turn, the spokesman for the Ministry of Health Hanno Kautz said that for the framework negotiations, to which, in particular, calls on the Prime Minister of the Thuringian region Bodro Ramelov, the German authorities have "no data" on the Russian vaccine.
On Tuesday, the Federal Chancellor of Austria reported that Vienna is negotiating with the Russian side about the possible purchase of one million doses of the vaccine in April-June.
Austria may order Russia's Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine next week, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said Wednesday after meeting with Russian Ambassador Dmitry Lyubinsky. "We are in the last meters, and the order for Sputnik V could happen, probably as early as next week," said Kurz.
