OREANDA-NEWS. Against the backdrop of rising prices, Russian producers are reducing the size of food packages.
In stores, Russians increasingly began to see goods that have decreased in size. So, for example, Nestle began to supply Russia chocolate weighing 82 grams, while previously the product weighed 85 grams.
In addition, the volume of instant coffee has decreased from 95 to 85 grams. Other manufacturers did the same with their products. For example, the volume of Danone yogurt is now 260 grams, and not 270, as it was before. In turn, Heineken now sells beer with a volume of 0.43 liters instead of 0.45.
According to a study by NielsenIQ, the number of products with reduced volume now makes up one fifth of the total number of products on store shelves, Kommersant reports.
Recently, the chairman of the Union of Consumers of the Russian Federation, Petr Shelishch, said that the level of annual growth in food prices this year could be more than 15 percent. According to him, products from cheap categories are rising in price most rapidly. These are cereals, sugar, butter, potatoes, pasta, some vegetables. As an example, he cited cabbage, which doubled in price last year, and in January prices rose by an average of 17 percent.
