Exports of Georgian Wine to Russia in January-October 2019 Increased by 11%

OREANDA-NEWS. From January to October of this year, Georgia exported more than 47 million bottles of wine to Russia, which is 11% more compared to the same period last year. This is stated in materials published on Tuesday by the National Wine Agency of the republic. Russia remains the main importer of Georgian wine. In second place, according to the agency, is Ukraine. For ten months, Georgia exported more than 8.3 million bottles of wine to this country, which is 0.5% less than in January-October last year.
The agency claims that the export of Georgian wine is growing in countries such as the United States (grew by 51%) and the United Kingdom (3%). In just ten months, Georgia exported more than 75.6 million bottles of this alcoholic beverage, which is 11% more than last year. The cost of exported wine amounted to $ 195 million, which is 20% more in annual terms. 302 companies exported Georgian wine.
In addition to wine, Georgia exported 23.8 million bottles of brandy from January to October, which is 52% more compared to the same period in 2018. Revenue amounted to about $ 51 million, an increase of 58%. For ten months, Georgia also exported more than 521 thousand bottles of Georgian vodka - chachi. The growth was 62%. Revenues from the supply of chacha from January to October this year reached $ 1.5 million, an increase of 58% in annual terms.
