OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian business of the Domino's Pizza international pizza chain in 2019 slowed down, according to Turkish DP Eurasia, a leading franchisee of the American brand in Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Sales of Domino’s Pizza in Russia last year grew by 17.5% to 5.7 billion rubles, while online sales increased by 29.9% to 3.3 billion rubles. At the end of 2018, growth was more significant: in general, by 49%, to 4.9 billion rubles, online sales - by 74%, to 2.5 billion rubles.
The slowdown in growth in Russia more clearly reflects the indicator of comparable sales (like-for-like), which reflects the revenue of the same points that worked at least 52 weeks before the first month of the reporting period, and thereby indicates the success of the operating business. In 2019, Domino’s Pizza's comparable sales in Russia grew by only 0.7%, while in 2018 - by 16%.
Earlier, DP Eurasia announced that it intends to open about 60 new points per year in Russia. However, in 2019, only 24 new establishments earned. At the end of December 2019, the Domino’s Pizza chain consisted of 203 restaurants in Russia, of which 121 had their own, and the remaining 82 were franchised.
