OREANDA-NEWS  Champagne production in Russia in January — September 2024 increased by 27.6 percent compared to the same period last year, to 11.15 million decaliters. This is reported by TASS with reference to data from Rosalkogoltabakcontrol.

At the same time, the materials say, the growth in the production of grape wines in the country was not so sharp — an increase of 8 percent, up to 24 million decaliters.

In general, during this period, alcohol, excluding beer, beer drinks, cider, poiret and mead, was produced in Russia by 0.6 percent more than in 2023. Vodka production in Russia also increased by comparable shares — 1.6 percent, to 55.74 million decaliters.

Earlier it became known that the State Duma approved a reduction in excise taxes on domestic sparkling wines, including Russian champagne. The rates, which were supposed to rise from 45 to 141 rubles from May 1, were decided to be set at 119 rubles by the end of the year. According to the law signed by the head of state, the figure will reach 129 rubles per liter by 2026.
