BN Group is negotiating with the regions on the construction of wooden houses

OREANDA-NEWS BN Group is negotiating with a number of Russian regions on the possible construction of multi-storey buildings on their territory using wood materials, Olga Ivanova, CEO of the company, said at a round table in the press center of the Rossiya Segodnya media group.
"We are actively negotiating with the regions to build apartment buildings from CLT panels," she said.
According to Ivanova, the mass use of wood in multi–storey construction today is hindered, on the one hand, by the insufficient popularization of wood as a building material and distrust of it in terms of safety, on the other hand, by the lack of the necessary regulatory framework.
"We can say that so far wooden technologies have been underestimated by the developers of the MKD (apartment buildings - ed.), the material needs to be popularized. The market for the use of the material is also limited by the lack of standardization and standards for wooden house construction. This area also needs to set prices, which would make it possible to participate in state programs. This promising industry needs state support to encourage developers to build an ICD from CLT, especially in the northern regions of the Russian Federation," she explained.
Ivanova noted that in many countries of the world, wood is widely used, in some regulations it is possible to build wooden houses above 70 floors.
"This year we have already received permission to build four-storey houses. And by the end of the year, we really hope that a permit and a standardized base for the construction of six-storey houses will be received. Our goal is still high–rise buildings. That is, we are going to get permission and normalize the base for nine- and ten-storey buildings," she said.
BN Group was established in 2024 as part of AFK Sistema holding to implement projects of suburban real estate and wooden house construction. Currently, the company manages three assets of AFK Sistema: the Zalesye suburban residence near Moscow next to the five-star Cosmos Collection Izumrudny Les hotel, the specialized company CLT Development, which implements projects from multilayer glued wooden panels and timber, as well as a rental project in Serebryany Bor in Moscow.
