DeVry University Spotlights Technology Advancements, Faculty Expertise in Annual Progress Report
- Investment in technology: DeVry University strives to constantly build on its 85-year history as a leader in education technology and invest in new ways of teaching and learning. In the 2014-2015 academic year, DeVry University installed 22 technology-enabled classrooms with state of the art features. To use the classrooms, professors must complete custom learning and certification training on how to effectively implement the virtual learning technology across the extended classrooms, in real time.
- Professional enrichment for professors: At the heart of the institution, DeVry University proactively supports their faculty in accomplishing their academic and professional goals. By allowing faculty to nurture their academic passions, they are able to continually bring fresh perspectives and thinking to the student learning experience. In 2015, DeVry University was honored to have two professors participate in the prestigious Fulbright Scholar Program, the largest scholar exchange in the world. The university also continues to highlight faculty expertise by publishing a biannual Journal of Scholarly Research.
- Stronger employer relationships: DeVry University partners with employers to help them meet their talent development, retention and acquisition goals, as well as to inform degree program curriculum. This includes providing scholarships, training solutions and specialized degree programs to some of the nation’s largest employers and working with active industry advisory boards to help the university shape its real-world curriculum.
“Our foremost priority is always student success. DeVry University’s Academic Annual Report is a tool for evaluating progress and identifying opportunities to enhance the student experience and academic outcomes,” said Donna M. Loraine, Ph.D., chief academic officer and provost of DeVry University. “Whether investing in educational technology, supporting faculty development or expanding employer partnerships, we are always working to strengthen our offerings and ability to help students achieve their education and career goals.”
Continuous improvement is deeply embedded in DeVry University’s culture. Annually, DeVry University works with the Higher Learning Commission’s (HLC) Academic Quality Improvement program (AQIP) and through an internal set of institutional tenets and standards to identify areas for growth and opportunities to enhance its offerings.
