IDGC of Centre is successfully operating through the spring flood
OREANDA-NEWS. Specialists of IDGC of Centre in the conditions of the started flood are successfully ensuring uninterrupted operation of power grid facilities in all regions of its service area (11 subjects of the Central Federal District). The key to this was the careful preparation, performed by the power company before the spring flood. According to weather forecasters, in most regions maximum intensity of floods is in the second half of March – first half of April. Despite the fact that initially it was predicted as a whole within the average values, IDGC of Centre prepared for the high water season very carefully.
The company implemented a set of preparatory activities to ensure trouble-free operation of power equipment, the course of which was controlled by a specially created Central flood commission. Similar commissions for the implementation of operational control in the field were established in all branches of IDGC of Centre. As a result of observations during flood periods of the three previous years, the list of power facilities was formed, which are in the zone of high risk. The company’s management created a schedule of inspections of risk areas and assigned responsible persons for their conduct.
In anticipation of the flood, in order to obtain timely information about weather conditions in the field, communication was ensured between branches of IDGC of Centre and territorial bodies of Roshydromet, the Russian Emergencies Ministry divisions, branches of FGC UES, road maintenance depots and local authorities.
Operational crews of Distribution Zones inspected transitions of overhead lines across rivers. They checked protection of bases of poles against ice movement. Availability and proper technical condition of boats, stationary and mobile pumps and machinery was ensured. Availability and storage space of emergency reserve was also checked. Taking into account possible changes in river channels during the flood, the branches developed measures to ensure delivery of vehicles, materials and equipment of emergency reserve to expected flood zones in sections of overhead lines. Repair crews are provided with schemes of road access to overhead lines indicating the characteristics of the water and other possible obstacles and ways to overcome them, and detours.
Currently, experts of the branches of IDGC of Centre continuously monitor the flood situation in the field and, if necessary, are ready to promptly take all necessary measures to eliminate consequences of possible emergency situations.
