Avnet’s Beth McMullen Recognized with Outstanding Women in Business Award from the Phoenix Business Journal
OREANDA-NEWS. Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), a leading global technology distributor, today announced that Beth McMullen, vice president of information technology (IT), was selected for the 2016 Phoenix Business Journal’s Outstanding Women in Business List. This annual awards program features 30 influential women in the Phoenix area who have proven track records of significant accomplishments in business and community service. McMullen was honored for her strategic approach to technology-based solutions that have enhanced Avnet’s services, as well as her commitment to mentoring students and professionals pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) related fields.
“Beth is an exceptional professional, leader and Avnet employee, who uses her extensive IT knowledge to develop creative solutions to further Avnet’s business and deliver results,” said Steve Phillips, senior vice president and CIO, Avnet, Inc. “Her energetic and vibrant leadership style stands out in both her daily work and investment in the career growth of employees throughout the company. Beth brings this same passion to the Arizona community, where she provides the support and guidance professionals and students need to achieve their career aspirations.”
McMullen is a 30-year technology-industry veteran and has been a core member of the Avnet IT leadership team since joining the company in 2010. McMullen is responsible for developing and implementing the IT strategy for Avnet’s global logistics and operations businesses, including the development of strategic technology roadmaps for distribution, global compliance and integration services. As a part of this, McMullen successfully led the implementation of a warehouse management system for Avnet’s largest distribution center that ships 10,000+ line items daily, and she also managed an initiative to transform Avnet’s project management office. She serves on the leadership committee for the Avnet Women’s Forum, which provides networking opportunities, leadership development and support for Avnet women.
In addition to her responsibilities as vice president of IT, McMullen is actively involved in the community. She is a board member for Arizona Women’s Education and Employment (AWEE), a workforce development organization. She co-chairs the organization’s Faces of Success Luncheon and serves as the board advisor for AWEE’s SheLEADS program focused on professional development and skills training. McMullen also advises Arizona State University’s Women in STEM Club.
“This year’s class of female leaders represents a vast array of knowledge and influence that spans across the entire Valley and beyond,” said Phoenix Business Journal Publisher Ray Schey. “We are extremely excited to be able to honor these successful women.”
