OREANDA-NEWS. Sorenson Media, the innovator and market leader of next generation television solutions, has announced the receipt of a ?1M (approx. $1.4M) grant as part of ongoing support from Welsh Government to expand, create 45 highly skilled jobs, and fuel product development and European growth.

The ?1M grant was distributed in four stages over the course of approximately 18 months as Sorenson Media established and grew its European operation based out of Cardiff, Wales. Sorenson Media has delivered on job creation and investment, and created more than 45 highly skilled positions to Wales. In addition, the grant helped speed the opening of its new office in Cardiff and the development of new product offerings.

Economy Minister Edwin Hart said, "Sorenson Media operates in one of our fastest growing sectors and I am delighted support from the Welsh Government helped it establish its European headquarters in Cardiff where it is delivering highly skilled jobs. The company's knowledge and competence in the field of next generation television, coupled with the pan-European scope of their offerings for the broadcast industry, provides a strong foundation for continued job creation and technology development in Wales."

In a formal process, Sorenson Media worked with the Welsh government to establish a strong and promising business case, attracting favorable investment based around job creation and training in the Creative Industries sector -- a key focus area for growth and support in Wales. Over the course of nine months, Sorenson Media demonstrated its innovation and expertise in the broadcast landscape, its ability to secure funding, as well as promising growth opportunities.

Sorenson Media offers comprehensive next generation television solutions through its Spark platform, providing television broadcasters with detailed viewing analytics, as well as personalization and interactive capabilities needed to improve the viewing experience, earn better ratings, and increase revenue.
