OREANDA-NEWS. A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Leonid Tibilov, President of the Republic of South Ossetia, took place at the Company's headquarters today.

The meeting addressed bilateral cooperation in the gas sector. Particular attention was paid to Russian natural gas supplies to the Republic.

In addition, the parties discussed the development prospects of South Ossetia's gas transmission infrastructure within the framework of the General Gasification Scheme of the Republic drafted by Gazprom. It was noted that, by implementing the Scheme, the Company would meet the full demand of local consumers for pipeline gas.

Background

In April 2010, Gazprom and the Government of South Ossetia signed the Cooperation Agreement until 2029.

In August 2009, Gazprom commissioned the Dzuarikau – Tskhinval gas trunkline to provide a direct gas supply from the Russian Federation to South Ossetia. The Company also supplies liquefied hydrocarbon gases to consumers with no access to pipeline natural gas.

The General Gasification Scheme of South Ossetia provides for the gasification of some 200 localities and the construction of over 520 and 370 kilometers of inter-settlement and settlement gas pipelines, respectively.

Between 2009 and 2015, South Ossetia received 169.7 million cubic meters of gas, including 34.1 million cubic meters in 2015.
