CenturyLink Criticizes FCC Privacy Proposal
OREANDA-NEWS. April 1, 2016. The Federal Communications Commission voted on a new privacy framework proposal today.
"The FCC's approach to privacy will fall short of protecting customers. Given our focus on privacy and security, and adherence to well-established privacy protection rules, we are extremely concerned that the FCC’s privacy proposal does not reflect a balanced approach. All too often, regulations apply differently to various market participants, some of whom are not Internet service providers but they use customer information in ways that customers don’t expect. Regulatory policy on issues as important as customers’ privacy and security must apply equally to all market participants,” said CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) Senior Vice President for Public Policy and Government Relations John F. Jones.
