Yatsenyuk: The following year, a level of improvement of welfare standards should exceed inflation level
OREANDA-NEWS. March 31, 2016. Inflation is forecast to be at the level of 8% in 2017. While planning main directions of a budget policy it is crucial to give a clear focus for the following year: to ensure that improvement in social standards exceeds inflation by 2%, said the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a Government meeting.
At the session of the Government Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine reported about the elaborated project of principal lines of 2017 budget policy.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized the necessity to include in the document "a clear target to provide growth of entitlements and incomes of the people".
The Head of Government reminded that last year salaries and pensions had been raised by 19% and 13% respectively: "This year, as we have set the target inflation rate at the level of 12%, by these 12% we will raise wages and pensions to compensate for the upturn of prices and tariffs".
For 2017, said Arseniy Yatsenyuk, it is predicted the fall of an inflation rate to 8%: "Let's set a clear target that the growth in monetary supply and incomes will exceed inflation by 2%".
Besides, Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed the need to provide further funding of anti-corruption authorities in the project.
It should also envisage financing a judicial reform, said the Head of Government and expressed hope that the Parliament would vote for amendments to the Constitution in the second reading simultaneously with the Law of Ukraine On the Judicial System and Status of Judges: "I believe that the judges who adopted illegitimate and unjust decisions, will be dismissed, and new judges will be employed."
Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructed to finalize the document on the main directions of budget policy for the next year: "Principal lines of the budget policy for 2017 must comply with both economic and political objectives of the State, as budget is a tool to pursue our policy."
