Yatsenyuk commissions to negotiate about spending part of funds allocated under the Kyoto Protocol for the purchase of cars for National police
OREANDA-NEWS. March 31, 2016. At the Government meeting Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructed the Ministry of Ecology together with other concerned agencies to hold talks and discuss the use of part of the remaining funds allotted to Ukraine under the Kyoto Protocol, for the purchase of hybrid vehicles for the National police.
"These hybrid cars consume little gasoline, produce less emissions, but do a lot of work to ensure the safety of citizens of Ukraine and the reforming of the National police," added the Head of Government.
Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov emphasized that it concerns the purchase of hybrid Toyota Prius and Toyota RAV-4 electric vehicles. The Minister noted that it would allow to cover the needs while reforming the National police if we bought these vehicles.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk also reminded that in the framework of the international programme there had been upgraded five trains for the Kyiv subway. He noted that these funds had already been spent into the city, but now Kyiv appealed for additional financing for these purposes.
The Prime Minister offered to hold talks on the possibility to divide the remaining funds under the Kyoto Protocol into two separate tranches: the first, 70% - to upgrade the car fleet of the National police, and the second tranche of funds - 30% for the modernization of the Kyiv subway.
