OREANDA-NEWS. Operators at LaSalle County Generating Station returned Unit 1 to full power today following a maintenance outage to replace seals on two pumps that were not performing to optimum levels. The pumps circulate water in the reactor. The unit was removed from service on Saturday, March 19, and returned to service Tuesday, March 22.

LaSalle Generating Station is located about 75 miles southwest of Chicago near Marseilles, Ill. At full power the facility’s two generating units produce more than 2,300 megawatts of carbon-free electricity, enough to power more than 2 million typical American homes.
