Government of Ukraine approves 2 bills aimed at implementing the obligations under the Association Agreement
OREANDA-NEWS. March 28, 2016. Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved two bills that will shortly be submitted to Parliament:"On the basic requirements for buildings and structures and the conditions of placing construction materials in the market to harmonize them with the legislation of the European Union"; "On food contact requirements".
These bills stipulate for basic requirements for buildings and construction materials, the procedures to assess their compliance with the established norms, and identify the basics of circulation of food contact items and materials aimed to enhance consumer protection.
The draft laws were elaborated to ensure the implementation of Ukraine's commitments under the Association Agreement to align Ukrainian legislation with the EU norms in the sphere of technical regulation, in particular the requirements regarding the construction materials and the safety of products.
In particular, the draft laws are harmonized with the following regulations: Construction Products Regulation (EU) No 305/2011, Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1062/2013 on European Technical Assessment format, Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 157/2014, Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, Commission Regulation (EC) No 450/2009 on active and intelligent materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
